How Does the O-Shot Work?

The O-Shot begins with a simple blood draw so that your plasma can be accessed. Your plasma contains platelets, which contain growth factors. These growth factors work to heal cells and tissue — and when injected, they trigger the platelets to release different growth factors. 

These growth factors activate the unipotent stem cells located in the vaginal and clitoral tissues in order to regenerate, and thus become “younger”, with improved functional potential.

Vaginal blood flow and new, healthy tissue growth are increased, which improves blood vessel and nerve growth in this important area. More nerve growth means more sensation. This entire process addresses a wide variety of sexual problems.

What to Expect During an O-Shot Treatment

Before your O-Shot in Austin, we will apply a numbing topical to the vaginal area, followed by a numbing injection. Once this has been done, we will perform a blood draw to extract the platelets from your plasma using a proprietary technique. When the platelet-rich plasma has been separated and concentrated, it will be placed into a syringe so that it can be administered to the area called the “o-spot” — a collection of structures that activate the orgasm system. Everyone has a different pain threshold, but the majority of women report only minimal discomfort during an O-Shot treatment. Treatment time is approximately a half hour.

Recovery and Results for the O-Shot

Although there is no downtime with the O-Shot, you may have some swelling, redness, sensitivity, and/or numbness in the treated area temporarily. Although many women only have one O-Shot administered, every patient is different. If you do choose to have another O-Shot treatment, you may have it done eight weeks after your first one. During your consultation with us, we will go over your personal goals to get a better idea of how many treatments you may need.

While there is no data that reports the O-Shot to be dangerous for a fetus, we believe that it’s still best to avoid administering this treatment to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as there have been no studies yet of the effects it may have.
