What is Biote?

Biote® is a bioidentical hormone replacement therapy designed to balance hormone levels. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may help relieve the symptoms of hormonal imbalance by raising hormones to their normal levels.

Biote works by using pellets that are placed underneath the skin, where they release bioidentical estradiol and testosterone into the bloodstream 24 hours a day. The specific type of pellets and levels prescribed will be customized to each individual patient. The pellet implantation is a simple, in-office procedure. The pellets are gradually absorbed, dispersing hormones throughout the body to offer a consistent administration and help address rollercoaster-like effects.

The Biote pellets are tiny, custom-compounded therapies for symptoms that arise from hormonal imbalances. These pellets may help keep a patient’s hormone levels consistent throughout the day. The pellet therapy that Biote trains on uses hormones that are bioidentical to those found in the human body.

Each patient’s symptoms are unique, and so is each patient’s path to hormone optimization through BHRT using pellets. Most bioidentical hormone replacement therapy patients report some relief in as little as four weeks, but full optimization may take up to six months. The bioidentical hormones for our hormone pellet therapy will be customized to fit your patient’s specific needs.

"After my blood work assessment and hormone pellets, I have the energy I remembered 30 years ago. I work out daily and love seeing muscle tone and feeling vibrant and juicy again. My house is clean, I am happy and inspired…Without energy, nothing else matters so this is a priority. Do yourself a favor and change your life."

Testosterone--an important but often overlooked female hormone

One of the most important female hormones that are often overlooked is testosterone. It is not just a male hormone. In fact, there are more receptors in a woman's body for testosterone than there is estrogen. Testosterone drops down by half in women from their 20s to their 40s, which is often accompanied by a number of negative concerns: brain fog, irritability, headaches, low sex drive, fatigue, difficulty climaxing, hair thinning, difficulty maintaining muscle mass, night sweats, interrupted sleep, and even vertigo in some patients. Progesterone also drops in women’s 30s, and this can lead to increases in "estrogen dominance" symptoms: increased premenstrual syndrome, increased menstrual blood flow, difficulty sleeping, and sometimes anxiety.

Younger women can experience hormonal imbalance, secondary to conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome. Both polycystic ovarian syndrome and even endometriosis are associated with estrogen dominance and inadequate progesterone. Birth control pills and other medications can lower testosterone levels, which can also lead to testosterone deficiency symptoms.

Immediately prior to menopause, estrogen levels will spike high and drop low and then with menopause, estrogen drops to an undetectable level which leads to hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, vaginal dryness, change in sex drive, mental fogginess, hair thinning, difficulty sleeping, and bone loss.

Modern Women’s Health is a leading practice and Biote provider. Biote replaces testosterone in women as early as their 30s through menopause to their 70s. For women in menopause, Biote will also combine with estrogen enhancement.
