Optimized hormones can be life-changing for both men and women. The correct hormone replacement therapy can increase energy, mental clarity, strength, mood, libido, and help you feel better all-around.
What is Biote?
Biote® is a bioidentical hormone replacement therapy designed to balance hormone levels. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) may help relieve the symptoms of hormonal imbalance by raising hormones to their normal levels.
Biote works by using pellets that are placed underneath the skin, where they release bioidentical estradiol and testosterone into the bloodstream 24 hours a day. The specific type of pellets and levels prescribed will be customized to each individual patient. The pellet implantation is a simple, in-office procedure. The pellets are gradually absorbed, dispersing hormones throughout the body to offer a consistent administration and help address rollercoaster-like effects.
The Biote pellets are tiny, custom-compounded therapies for symptoms that arise from hormonal imbalances. These pellets may help keep a patient’s hormone levels consistent throughout the day. The pellet therapy that Biote trains on uses hormones that are bioidentical to those found in the human body.
Each patient’s symptoms are unique, and so is each patient’s path to hormone optimization through BHRT using pellets. Most bioidentical hormone replacement therapy patients report some relief in as little as four weeks, but full optimization may take up to six months. The bioidentical hormones for our hormone pellet therapy will be customized to fit your patient’s specific needs.

Why Do We Need Hormone Replacement?
Very often with age comes an interruption in the body’s ability to produce hormones. This can cause a significant change in major areas of your life — and can affect not only you, but your loved ones as well. Hormone replacement therapy can get you back on track and feeling your best.
How the Pellet is Administered
The Biote pellet is typically implanted in the hip/buttock area. We will clean and sterilize the skin, inject a local anesthetic, and then implant the pellet just beneath the skin. The instrument we use for implanting the pellet will create a track under the skin so that the pellet can enter. After insertion, the small wound will be dressed with tape and gauze.
Correct Dosage for Biote
The average pellet comes in a 100-milligram dose; however, proper dosing is a big part of hormone replacement therapy. An experienced specialist like Dr. Jukes (who is is a Biote Platinum Provider with five years of experience) and her team of experienced Biote certified healthcare providers will be able to determine the right dosage for you after evaluating your symptoms and other factors.
Recovery and Results
Some patients experience significant tenderness and soreness for a few days to a couple of weeks after pellet insertion. There may also be swelling for a few days, and the wound may take up to one week to heal. Don’t get the dressing wet for 24 hours, and be careful of the treated area for a few days. The Biote pellet will work for up to six months.
