There are now options that allow patients to test their ability to metabolize medications. These tests can be used to help select antidepressant/anxiety medications, pain medications, or cholesterol-lowering drugs that are best suited for your body. Some patients metabolize drugs more quickly and others more slowly. This can alter your therapeutic response and affect side effects.
